The competition runs from January to December each year. Winners names are engraved on the respective award. It is hoped that as many as possible will present their points for consideration at the end of the year

To be eligible to compete for these awards you must be a current member of the Scottish Great Dane Club.

Trophies and Quaichs are presented at the clubs Annual General Meeting in February

King Trophy

Points are calculated from wins at Open, Limited and Sanction Shows in Scotland only.

1st place - 5 points : 2nd place - 3 points : 3rd place - 2 points : Reserve - 1 point
Best of Breed - 10 points : Best in Group - 15 points : Best in Show - 20 points

Eve Niven Memorial Trophy

Eve Niven of Dunbracken Great Danes, was a founder member of the club when it was re-formed in 1965. She sadly passed away in 1982. Eve's life was her dogs,and her work and influence are commerated in The Eve Niven Memorial Trophy, presented yearly based on the following.

Points should be calculated from wins at the five Scottish Championship Show starting with our own show in April i.e. Scottish Great Dane Club Ch. Show, S.K.C. (May), Border Union Ch. Show, S.K.C. (August), Working & Pastoral Breeds Association of Scotland Ch. Show.

Only Dane bitches resident in Scotland are eligible to compete for this trophy

1st place - 3 points : 2nd place - 2 points : 3rd place - 1 point
Challenge Certificates - 8 points : Reserve Challenge Certificates - 5 points

The Ian Nimmo Memorial Trophy

Only Dane Dogs resident in Scotland are eligible to compete for this Trophy. Points to be calculated from wins at the five championship shows. Points should be calculated as follows:-

1st place - 3 points : 2nd place - 2 points : 3rd place - 1 point
Challenge Certificates - 8 points : Reserve Challenge Certificates - 5 points

The Quaich is a traditional two handled Scottish Drinking cup!

Maid to Measure Memorial Quaich

The Quaich is in memory of Ch Drumview Maid to Measure for the top winning Scottish puppy. Christie (M to M) was top brood bitch overall for 3 years and top working once so it seemed a fitting memorial. Given to the Club by Judith Greig.

Ian McAllister Memorial Quaich

In 2005 the club President Ian McAllister sadly passed away. After deliberation the committee decided on a annual trophy as the most appropriate way to remember Ian.

The dog or bitch accumlating the most points at Championship shows throughout the UK will win the Quaich. Points will be gained as follows:

1st place - 5 points, 2nd place - 4 points, 3rd place - 3 points, Reserve - 2 points, VHC - 1 point (one class per show).
Challenge Certificate - 8 points, Reserve Challenge Certificate - 5 points
